Dear Friend,

It's great to be back in Ohio after spending another week in Washington. In the last few weeks the House passed some meaningful legislation, including my IMPACT Act, that's good for Ohio. I hope to see many of you in the coming weeks. Here's a quick update on my work:

  • The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) is the most significant threat to America’s national security and core values. The House made it a priority to counter the CCP by passing several China-related bills.
  • WW2 Veteran Bill DeCapite recently turned 100. I was honored to recognize him and his service on the House floor. See my remarks below.
  • I voted for a resolution to overturn the Biden-Harris administration’s near mandate for electric vehicles. Now is not the time for more unnecessary and burdensome overreach by the federal government
  • My IMPACT Act, which develops advanced technologies to improve the efficiency of cement, concrete, and asphalt production, passed the House with bipartisan support by a voice vote. This bill will bolster American jobs in a competitive global market!
  • I voted against another stop-gap spending bill because our country cannot afford to kick the can down the road without any meaningful solutions to the problems we face as a nation.

When asked what his secret to a long life is, Mr. DeCapite says: “I can’t believe I am 100... volunteering helped me...I just get up every day, and live a good life.”  I want to thank Mr. DeCapite for his selfless service and wish him a very happy birthday.

I voted to overturn the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) extreme emissions standard for vehicles that would, in effect, mandate nearly two-thirds of new cars and 40% of new trucks sold in the United States to be electric by 2032. The resolution to nullify the rule passed the House of Representatives by a vote of 215 – 191. The Biden-Harris administration’s policies have made life more expensive for Americans, and the EPA’s electric vehicle near mandate is another example of out-of-touch policy from Washington that will set Americans back. Now is not the time for more unnecessary and burdensome overreach by the federal government. Ohioans have had enough.

This week, my Innovative Mitigation Partnerships for Asphalt and Concrete Technologies (IMPACT) Act, passed the House of Representatives by a by a voice vote.

The IMPACT Act will strengthen and enhance the competitiveness of American manufacturing by developing advanced technologies that will improve the efficiency of cement, concrete, and asphalt production. Production of these materials is critically important to the industrial sector and plays a fundamental role in supporting U.S. infrastructure, national defense, and economic security. The IMPACT Act will bolster American jobs in a competitive global market and enable domestic production to reach peak efficiency for decades to come.
