Dear Friend,

As fall arrives, it's been great to be in Ohio during this district work period. I've loved seeing so many of you.

The 118th Congress is winding down and while I am proud of the work my team and I have done this year, there is still more to be done in Washington. Before the end of the year, we still need to:

  • Responsibly fund the government
  • Pass an updated Farm Bill
  • Secure the Border
  • Pass the NDAA

This will be no small task, but I am hopeful that we can pass common-sense legislation that is good for America.

In Ohio, the agriculture industry provides 1 out of every 7 jobs. That’s why passing a Farm Bill that works for both our agriculture industry and consumers has been one of my top priorities in Congress. I was proud to help advance a bipartisan Farm Bill out of the House Agriculture Committee back in May, but the legislation has not yet come up for a vote on the House Floor.

I recently joined 139 other members of Congress in a letter to Speaker Johnson about the importance of passing a robust Farm Bill. Our nation's food security depends on strong agricultural policy that provides stability for America's farmers and ranchers, while keeping food affordable for consumers. It’s time to get this done.

The border is not secure. The Biden-Harris Administration’s lax immigration policies and willful disregard for our laws have created a crisis. Millions of people have entered our country illegally and deadly drugs are pouring into our streets. Last year, the House passed the Secure the Border Act, but the Senate has still not taken this bill up for a vote.

This has gone on for too long. It's time for Senate Democrats to stop sitting on their hands and pass this crucial legislation to keep drugs off our streets and keep our communities safe.

Nothing is more important than our national security. That’s why Congress needs to pass the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which sets the policy for the United States military for the coming year.

This comprehensive legislation is an important step to putting our military and our servicemembers, not woke ideologies, first. While the House version of the NDAA passed back in June, the Senate has yet to act. I am hopeful that we can enact a strong bill that meets the needs of our nation and those who fight to defend her.
