Dear Friend,

This week in Washington, we got a lot done to push forward President Trump’s agenda, making great strides toward passing one big, beautiful reconciliation bill. I want to share some of the good news from this week.

  • After nearly 18 hours of debate, the Ways & Means Committee passed their portion of the reconciliation bill. This bill makes the Trump tax cuts permanent, provides additional tax relief for workers and seniors, rewards investment in America, and holds woke elites accountable.
  • I introduced the Harvest to Hue Act to empower America’s farmers to lead the transition toward natural colorings in the nation’s food supply.
  • During National Police Week, the House passed a handful of law enforcement related bills.

The Ways and Means Committee voted to provide tax relief for families, workers, small businesses, manufacturers, and farmers. The bill makes the Trump tax cuts permanent, delivers additional tax relief for working families and small businesses, rewards investment and manufacturing in America, and holds woke elites accountable, while ending tax giveaways to the wealthy, China, and illegal immigrants.

Families and workers will save money through lower tax rates, a larger Child Tax Credit, and President Trump’s tax priorities for hardworking Americans: tax relief for seniors, no tax on tips, no tax on overtime pay, and no tax on auto loan interest for American-made cars. Every Democrat on the committee voted against the tax relief package, and for the largest tax hike in American history on 207 million taxpayers.

This week, I proudly introduced the Harvest to Hue Act, landmark legislation to empower America’s farmers to lead the transition toward natural food color additives in the nation’s food supply. My bill comes on the heels of FDA's April 22 announcement of a national transition to natural food color additives as part of the Administration’s broader Make America Healthy Again (MAHA) initiative.

Our farmers are the backbone of our nation. By empowering our farmers, we are investing in the future of American agriculture and ensuring healthier choices for American families. The Harvest to Hue Act harnesses their strength to meet growing consumer demand for natural products while reinforcing the integrity and safety of our food supply. This is a win for farmers, a win for health, and a win for America.

During National Police Week, we passed a series of pro–law enforcement bills. In 2022, 64 police officers were killed in the line of duty, with the leading cause of death being ambush-style attacks.

Rep. Tim Moore’s legislation, the Improving Law Enforcement Officer Safety and Wellness Through Data Act, requires the Attorney General to compile reports on violence against law enforcement officers and assess the effectiveness of programs designed to provide officers with wellness resources and protective equipment. This will help us comprehensively enhance police officer safety.

We also passed Rep. Don Bacon’s LEOSA Reform Act and Rep. Russell Fry’s Federal Law Enforcement Officer Service Weapon Purchase Act. House Republicans will continue to stand up for the men and women in blue as they face growing challenges and threats to their safety.
