Summer is finally here and it was great to spend Memorial Day in Ohio with you! I'll be back in DC next week but here's a quick update.

ICYMI: The House Agriculture Committee advanced the Farm Bill which sets federal policies for the Department of Agriculture. Several pieces of legislation that I helped write were included. Read more below.
I spent Memorial Day in Cuyahoga County with many of you. Let us remember the purpose of the holiday and never forget our fallen U.S. military personnel.
Stay tuned, next week the House is scheduled to begin voting on appropriations bills that fund the federal government. This process was a mess last year but I am hopeful that we can have a more regular and orderly process this time around.

Advancing The Farm Bill

In Ohio, Agriculture provides 1 out of every 7 jobs, making it one of the state’s biggest economic drivers. As a member of the House Agriculture Committee, I’ve been advocating for policies that make sure federal policy works as well for consumers as it does for our agriculture industry.

Last week, the committee advanced the Farm Bill, which sets federal policies for the Department of Agriculture. After working with key stakeholders in our region, I am proud that many priorities important to Northeast Ohio were included in the bill. Key issues like strengthening the farm safety net to ensure a safe and affordable food supply, promoting crop insurance and risk management tools, driving rural economic development, and expanding trade markets will strengthen our communities. Honoring our Fallen

Speaking of our fallen service members, Ronald Reagan said "Their lives remind us that freedom is not bought cheaply. It has a cost; it imposes a burden."

On Memorial Day I had the pleasure of getting to see so many of you. I was humbled to attend the Fairview Park Memorial Day Ceremony to honor those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedoms. I also visited the American Legion post 572 in Parma to catch up with Post Leader Eric Pfleaidermahnn and others. To cap off the day I walked alongside Parma Heights Mayor Gallo in the Parma Heights Memorial Day Parade.

What you think matters to me. Thank you for participating in my survey. I asked you if Congress should require American colleges and universities to disclose gifts they receive from foreign adversaries. 88% of you said “Yes” while 6% said “No,” and 6% responded “Other.”

I believe that Washington must keep Americans safe and I will keep you updated on any legislation that holds our adversaries accountable and protects American innovation.
