It's springtime in Ohio! I am so glad to be back for the weekend. there is no place I'd rather be. Here's an update.

Officer Jacob Derbin made the ultimate sacrifice when he was killed in the line of duty last week. I gave a speech on the House floor to honor his valiant service.
I introduced the American Workforce Act to empower Americans to pursue career paths that do not require a college degree. Read more below.
Some important bills like the Israel Security Assistance Support Act, which included my resolution condemning the Biden administration, the FAA Reauthorization Act, and the Equal Representation Act made it across the finish line. Next week we will markup the Farm Bill.
Northeast Ohio is home to so many talented artists! I am pleased to announce the winner of this year’s Congressional Art Competition, Ella Wallace of Orville High School. See Ella’s art below.

Honoring Officer Jacob Derbin

Last week, Officer Jacob Derbin was Killed in the line of Duty. Tragedies like this remind us of the challenges and dangers that face our men and women in blue. I’m grateful for the service of our law enforcement officers who put their lives on the line every single day. My deepest condolences to the family, friends, and fiancée of Officer Derbin.

Congratulations, Ella!

Ella Wallace, an 11th grade student at Orrville High School, submitted the piece “Take Me Back” depicting her younger self. The artwork, which was made using colored pencils, represents innocence and the desire to go back to simpler times. Ella’s art will be displayed for one year at the United States Capitol building in Washington, D.C. alongside winners from congressional districts from across the country. Learn more here.
