It was a busy week in Washington, and I'm so glad to be back in Ohio this weekend. We had a big week and I want to give you an update on my work.

I held a town hall in Solon last Saturday and got to meet many of you there! Thanks to everyone that came out to ask questions.
The House passed important legislation that I helped lead. Read more about the Weather Act Reauthorization Act and the Antisemitism Awareness Act below.
NASA Administrator Bill Nelson came to a House Science, Space, and Technology Committee hearing to discuss NASA’s budget for fiscal year 2025. I talked to him about NASA Glenn Research Center and its importance in advancing NASA’s strategic mission. See the full exchange below.
I gave a speech on the House floor to recognize a WW2 veteran and American hero, Mike Zaderecky, who just turned 106 years old!

Helping Farmers and Keeping Us Safe

As Chairman of the Subcommittee on the Environment on the Science, Space, and Technology Committee, I have worked on legislation that will improve our weather forecasting and modeling capabilities and conserve taxpayer resources. The legislation passed the House with overwhelming support by a vote of 394 – 19. Read my press release about the bill here.

Fighting Antisemitism

The Antisemitism Awareness Act will require the Department of Education to use the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) Working Definition of Antisemitism and its contemporary examples when enforcing federal anti-discrimination laws. Usage of the IHRA definition in this context is a key step in calling out antisemitism and ensuring antisemitic hate crimes on college campuses are properly investigated and prosecuted. Advocating for NASA Glenn

At this week's House Science, Space, and Technology Committee hearing, I was able to highlight the importance of Ohio’s NASA Glenn Research Center to NASA and Northeast Ohio’s economy. American flight and innovation have always run through Ohio. From the Wright brothers to NASA Glenn, the workers in our state have been at the forefront of advancement and achievement in air and space.

Celebrating an American Hero, Mike Zaderecky

I want to recognize a patriot and true American hero, Mike Zaderecky of Parma, who just celebrated his 106th Birthday! As a private first-class in the 8th Infantry Division, 45th Field Artillery Battalion, Mike served in World War II’s European theater patrolling the beaches at Normandy shortly after the landings. In 1945, Mike returned home and continued serving his community. We are humbled by and grateful for Mike.

The House of Representatives is working on a budget proposal that would reduce federal government deficits by $14 trillion over the next decade.

By contrast President Biden proposed a $7.3 trillion budget that would inflate the size of the federal government and increase taxes by $4.9 trillion!

I believe that Washington must reign in federal spending, shrink our bloated bureaucracy, and keep inflation in check.
