Dear Friend,
I’m back in Ohio after being in Washington earlier this week. While the House delivered some strong wins for the American people, we also failed on a couple of important issues that I know are important to many in our communities.
Here’s a quick update.
We passed the Tax Relief for American Families & Workers Act. That’s a long title, but it boils down to some great things for Ohioans and America.
This was an important bill, and passing it proves that we can govern and get important things done.
Now the Senate needs to pass this tax relief bill quickly.
Two other important things fell short of passage, and it’s frustrating that we couldn’t get them across the line.
The resolution to impeach Homeland Security Secretary Mayorkas failed by one vote. A bill to provide more support for Israel in its war against Hamas also failed. These are important matters, but they got caught up in a lot of rhetoric. And sometimes rhetoric gets in the way of progress.
But that’s why we keep moving forward, and that’s why I will hold the line on what’s good for the people of Northeast Ohio. We aren’t going to win every vote. But we aren’t going to walk away from efforts to put commonsense conservative solutions into practice.
As always, I will keep you updated as things develop.
