Looking Back on First 100 Days of Congress

Dear {{prefix}} {{lastname}},

Today marks 100 days since the beginning of the 118th Congress. My team and I have been focused on delivering results for the people of Ohio's Seventh District by voting on smart policy in Washington and providing strong constituent services back home.

This newsletter updates you on some key votes I've taken to advance House Republicans' Commitment to America; the work I'm doing on the House Committee on Agriculture and the House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology; and the activities taking place in the district.

While the first 100 days are behind us, many more lie ahead. Please consider my office a resource for you and me your voice in Washington. I continue to be honored by the responsibility you've entrusted to me and thankful for this opportunity to serve.

Sincerely,

Rep. Max Miller signature image

Keeping Our Commitment to America

Protecting Parents Rights,
Career and Technical Education

Video

Miller cosponsored the Parents Bill of Rights, a bill that defines the protections available to parents to know what their children are being taught, how schools spend money, and that they can speak out when they need to. I offered and passed an amendment to ensure that these protections extend to career and technical students, who matter just as much as students on the college path.

Key Votes:

  • Supported HR 1: Lower Energy Costs Act
  • Voted to defund 87,000 new IRS agents
  • Sponsored resolution removing Ilhan Omar from Foreign Relations Committee due to anti-semitic remarks
  • Voted to end the COVID pandemic and mandates
  • Voted to create special committees to uncover origins of COVID and investigate weaponization of federal government

Bipartisan Rail Safety Solutions

Bipartisan members of the Ohio delegation speak at a press conference in support of the RAIL Act.

Congressman Miller is working with bipartisan members of the Ohio delegation to improve rail safety in the wake of the East Palestine train derailment. He has cosponsored two bills: One to remove taxes on disaster payments made to victims, and the RAIL Act to improve rail safety regulations to prevent future disasters.

House Agriculture Committee

Questioning USDA Sec. Tom Vilsack on Dairy Market Access

Video

Congressman Miller questions USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack about expanding international markets for American producers, especially Ohio dairy farmers who have been wrongfully blocked from Canadian markets, during an Agriculture Committee hearing on March 28.

Stepping Up for Ohio Farmers

  • Miller's Agriculture Advisory Council features representatives from across Ohio's agriculture sectors as well as former Congressman Bob Gibbs. The council held its first meeting in Wooster to discuss priorities for the Farm Bill.

  • Miller voted to overturn the Biden administration's Waters of the US rule that overreaches and encroaches on the rights of landowners.
  • Miller participated in a hearing on ways to reduce rising production costs that are hurting farmers and contributing to inflation.

Oversight and Accountability
in Ukraine

As the representative for one of the largest Ukrainian- American populations in the nation, Miller joined Republican members of Congress in a fact-finding mission to Ukraine to evaluate how American resources are being used in the war effort. Miller supports giving Ukrainians weapons to defend against the Russian invaders, but he is against blank checks and direct involvement of American troops.

House Science, Space, and Technology Committee

Improving Weather Forecasting

Miller introduced legislation to improve research coordination between the Department of Energy and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). The bill improves weather and climate modeling and forecasting, which is critical to saving lives during severe storm events. The measure passed unanimously in committee.

Miller is the chairman of the Subcommittee on Environment. He chaired his first subcommittee hearing in March.

Miller met with NASA Glenn Research Center Director Jimmy Kenyon and Deputy Director Dawn Schaible about how the center can remain on the cutting edge of technology and a leading fixture of the district.

Miller met with Cuyahoga Community College President Michael Baston in April to discuss workforce development for the aerospace industry in the greater Cleveland area.
