Dear {{prefix}} {{lastname}},

Happy Friday!

Now that the government has reopened, my focus returns to what matters most: rooting out corruption within our institutions, and that includes protecting the vulnerable and confronting predators in all their forms. From exposing Epstein’s network to fighting D.C. corruption to stopping sex offenders from exploiting surrogacy laws, I am fighting a war on predators. We are gaining ground in the war on predators, and I will not stop until every abuser, trafficker, and corrupt official is held accountable.

Ending the Sexual Predator Surrogacy Loophole

This week, I introduced the No Surrogacy for Sex Offenders Act. The legislation closes a dangerous loophole allowing convicted sex offenders, including those who harmed children, to use private surrogacy agreements to obtain parental rights. Right now, predators who are banned from adopting can simply purchase or arrange a surrogacy contract to bypass those protections. That ends with this bill.

This is simple: convicted sex offenders should never be allowed to exploit surrogacy to gain access to children. Period.

The bill bans registered sex offenders from entering surrogacy arrangements through interstate or foreign commerce, imposes penalties of up to 18 years for offenders who engage in surrogacy and commit a sex offense during the process, and ensures all surrogacy agreements are covered.

Predators be warned: if you try to gain access to children through surrogacy, we will pursue you with the full force of the law.

The Epstein Files: Bringing Justice

On Wednesday, President Trump signed a bill authorizing the release of all the Epstein files, finally debunking the dishonest Democrat smears against him. Democrats misled the public, doctored documents, and twisted witness testimony, all to turn Epstein’s victims into political pawns in their cynical political games. As a member of the Oversight Committee, I have worked tirelessly to pursue the truth and fight for justice for the victims.

Now that these files are public, it is time to hold every individual involved in Epstein’s network accountable, no matter how powerful they are.

Jeffrey Epstein was a master manipulator whose connections to American politicians and global intelligence circles are still being unraveled. But I give you my word: the victims deserve justice, and I will not stop until they get it.

Members Must Be Held Accountable

This week revealed exactly the kind of D.C. double-dealing that Americans are tired of. I supported a censure of Delegate Stacey Plaskett after it was revealed she exchanged messages with Jeffrey Epstein, her "constituent," during a congressional hearing—something no member of Congress should ever be doing.

At the same time, Rep. Cory Mills faces serious allegations. I reviewed the restraining order myself, and the claims are deeply concerning. Instead of addressing them, he had someone else defend him publicly. That is not accountability.

If we expect integrity from others, we must demand it from our own side as well. We are defined by the company we keep, and in this case, we should not keep it.

Ukranian Orthodox Imprisoned with our Taxes

On Tuesday, I met with Orthodox hierarchs to discuss the Ukrainian government’s ongoing persecution of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. For four years, clergy and parishioners have faced intimidation, raids, and even imprisonment, solely because of their faith. American taxpayers should not be forced to bankroll a government that persecutes Christians.

It is disappointing that some in Congress would rather launch political attacks than address these human rights abuses. My priority is protecting American interests and ensuring our tax dollars never fund the persecution of Christians. In December, I will host Orthodox leaders and Members of Congress to continue this vital work.

Sincerely,

U.S. Rep. Anna Paulina Luna

Member of Congress
