Dear {{prefix}} {{lastname}},

Happy Thanksgiving!

Yesterday, we celebrated the courage of the early pilgrims who, through hardship and faith, helped lay the foundation for our great American heritage. We owe it to both our ancestors and future generations to protect that legacy. Every American should grow up in a country where education is attainable and where hard work makes it possible to afford a home, raise a large family, and enjoy a healthy, prosperous life.

Police Ride-along

Earlier this month, I went on a ride-along with Florida Department of Corrections, the Clearwater Police Department, and the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office. I saw firsthand their dedication to our community and the attention to detail that goes into every case—and yes, they found fentanyl! This Thanksgiving, I am thankful for the men and women in law enforcement who risk their lives to protect our families and keep Pinellas County safe.

President Trump: Delivering Higher Wages and Lower Prices

As families prepare for Thanksgiving, there is finally good news on the economy and the cost of holiday traditions. Wages are now rising faster than inflation, giving working families more breathing room as we head into the holidays.

Affordability is improving at the dinner table, too. The American Farm Bureau reports that a classic Thanksgiving meal for ten is now 5 percent cheaper than last year, with turkey prices down more than 16 percent. After years of painful inflation, families are finally getting a much-needed break just in time for the holiday.

As we look ahead, restoring affordability for working and middle-class Americans remains one of my top priorities.

Student Loans: Drowning Americans in Interest

Americans now owe more than $1.8 trillion in student loan debt, with the average federal borrower carrying over $39,000. For young Americans beginning their careers, these monthly payments are suffocating, delaying marriage, home ownership, starting families, and the ability to save. Because of compounding interest, many borrowers end up paying more in interest than the original cost of their degree.

The student debt crisis is real, but the answer is not blanket loan forgiveness. That approach punishes Americans who chose not to attend college, those who worked their way through school, and those who have already paid off their loans. It is fiscally reckless.

What we can do is provide relief without handouts. Capping federal student loan interest rates would immediately reduce monthly payments, curb predatory interest accrual, and ensure borrowers are paying down their principal—not trapped forever in debt. This is a practical, fair, and fiscally responsible solution that protects taxpayers while helping younger Americans build stable, productive lives.

Wishing you and your family a joyful and blessed Thanksgiving weekend.

Sincerely,

U.S. Rep. Anna Paulina Luna
