Last week was jam-packed. We had multiple hearings a day on problems that everyday Americans face. You know what those are: anything from Biden emptying our strategic petroleum reserves, to Big Tech's aggressive censorship of your voices, to the wasteful programs the federal government uses to personally attack American citizens.
But I wanted to take a few moments to update you on some of the highlights.
Here's the latest...

My First Bill: The SOS Act!
|
If you didn't catch the news, I dropped my first bill! It was an honor to introduce the Stop Our Sexual assault in the military (SOS) Act, co-led with my colleague from Florida's 23rd District, Democrat Rep. Jared Moskowitz.
When I served in the military, I witnessed the lack of self defense and combat training. This bipartisan piece of legislation would ensure that out of the already-required physical training days each month for active duty service members, one of those days would be designated to self defense/combat training.
As a veteran, I will always have the backs of our brave men and women who put everything on the line to defend our nation so that we can live in the strongest country in the world.

On the House Floor Wednesday, I blasted the military industrial complex on both sides of the aisle pushing to endlessly keep troops in Syria.
As I said in my remarks, sending our sons and daughters to fight for the interests of foreign countries is nowhere close to where our priorities lie. Our Southern Border is completely open and we don't have troops patrolling it, unlike we do in Syria! We have zero strategic advantage and zero reason to be in Syria. What we need to focus on is bigger issues, like China.
As far as I know, Members of Congress don’t swear an oath to the people of Syria, Ukraine or anywhere else – we swear an oath to the people of the United States.

Taking on China's Seafood Monopoly
|
In a Natural Resources hearing Tuesday, I brought up how even though the United States is a global leader in fishery management, we continue to outsource our fishing and seafood industries to countries like China – making it harder for our domestic fisheries to compete.
In the meantime, we’ve strangled our fisherman by regulations and red tape. This is unacceptable.

House Freedom Caucus Takes On Debt Ceiling Debate
|
On Friday, I attended a House Freedom Caucus Press Conference with my colleagues to push for commonsense cuts in the debt ceiling debate.
We were sent here to STOP the illogical and crushing debt manifested by the Washington elite – and that's exactly what I intend to do.
Some of the bare minimum asks we want to see:
- Ending President Biden's horrible $80 billion IRS expansion
- Rescinding all unspent COVID-19 funds
- Rolling back Biden's unlawful $400 billion student loan bailout
|
- Voted YES on Rep. James Comer's (KY) Protecting Speech from Government Interference Act (H.R. 140) which would prohibit federal government employees from abusing their power to censor free speech, regardless of whether they agree or disagree with what is said.
- Co-sponsored Rep. Julia Letlow's (LA) Parents Bill of Rights to ensure parental rights and children are protected.
- Co-sponsored Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene's (GA) House Resolution 139 which would ban so-called "gender-affirming" procedures on minor children.
- Co-sponsored Rep. Vern Buchanan's (FL) Sunshine Protection Act to make Daylight Savings Time permanent.

On Friday, I reported Jane Fonda to Capitol Police for threatening to murder pro-life politicians and those who stand up for the rights of unborn babies. She then walked back her absurd statement.
